Elle est juste un peu plus \u00e2g\u00e9e que moi et pourtant elle a marqu\u00e9 et fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 mon propre voyage \u00e0 la d\u00e9couverte du whisky ainsi que ma vie. Etudiant, j\u2019explorais d\u00e9j\u00e0 le monde du whisky lorsque l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9, je travaillais dans un magasin de whisky pr\u00e8s de chez moi, d\u00e9veloppant ma connaissance de cet incroyable esprit. Mais ce fut la lecture d\u2019un livre intitul\u00e9 <strong>Appreciating Whisky<\/strong> (Comment appr\u00e9cier le whisky) qui me montra vraiment la voie. L\u2019auteur en \u00e9tait <strong>Phillip Hills<\/strong> (\u2018Pip\u2019 Hills). Il y d\u00e9crivait l\u2019art des d\u00e9gustations olfactive et en bouche et y contait l\u2019histoire de la formation de la Scotch Malt Whisky Society en 1983. J\u2019aimai tout de go le r\u00e9cit de la d\u00e9couverte des joies du single cask par Pip et ses copains et cela me poussa \u00e0 en d\u00e9couvrir davantage sur cette curieuse Soci\u00e9t\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>C\u2019est ainsi que je d\u00e9m\u00e9nageai pour m\u2019installer \u00e0 <strong>Edimbourg<\/strong> et travailler au bar des <strong>Vaults<\/strong> \u00e0 Leith. Je me souviens m\u00eame de ma premi\u00e8re goutte \u00e0 la suite de mon entretien d\u2019emploi \u2013 un 13 ans d\u2019\u00e2ge de la distillerie 3. Je me dis \u00e0 ce moment-l\u00e0 que j\u2019\u00e9tais vraiment o\u00f9 il fallait \u00eatre. Le travail \u00e0 la Members\u2019Room, berceau de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9, me donna l\u2019opportunit\u00e9 d\u2019essayer tous les nouveaux whiskies de <strong>Outturns<\/strong> et me fournit \u00e9galement l\u2019occasion de rencontrer un grand nombre de membres de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s divers et vari\u00e9s qui enrichirent ma connaissance et ma passion du whisky. Cela me permit de prendre la mesure de la gamme des diff\u00e9rents profils de saveurs et de comprendre qu\u2019il existait un whisky pour satisfaire les go\u00fbts de chacun.<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s cela, les diff\u00e9rents \u00e9v\u00e9nements pour les membres me donn\u00e8rent une vue nationale de nos produits alors que je travaillais avec nos ambassadeurs pour s\u00e9lectionner les whiskies qu\u2019ils emportaient chaque mois aux quatre coins du Royaume Uni. J\u2019appris ainsi \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper un sens de communaut\u00e9 au sein d\u2019esprits qui partageaient une passion commune pour cet incroyable whisky.<\/p>\n<p>Et depuis, j\u2019ai la chance de continuer mon voyage avec la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 en me concentrant sur l\u2019approvisionnement et la s\u00e9lection de nos whiskies single casks, travaillant avec le Panel de D\u00e9gustation pour pr\u00e9senter des \u00e9chantillons- candidats \u00e0 l\u2019embouteillage. Maintenant je me concentre aussi sur l\u2019approvisionnement en f\u00fbts afin de g\u00e9rer la maturation du whisky dans le but de fournir \u00e0 nos membres la vari\u00e9t\u00e9 et la qualit\u00e9 qu\u2019ils attendent de nous.<\/p>\n<p>Rien de plus satisfaisant que de visiter diff\u00e9rentes distilleries, de faire le tour des bodegas de Jerez \u00e0 la recherche de f\u00fbts de sherry ou d\u2019explorer encore plus loin le monde des spiritueux en faisant des voyages \u00e0 Cognac ou Armagnac pour s\u00e9lectionner les meilleurs f\u00fbts de ces r\u00e9gions.<\/p>\n<p>Libre d\u2019innover et d\u2019exp\u00e9rimenter, la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 peut travailler avec diff\u00e9rentes tonnelleries et distilleries pour cr\u00e9er des whiskies vieillissant en f\u00fbts personnalis\u00e9s par le biais de diff\u00e9rentes recettes \u2013 le but \u00e9tant d\u2019embouteiller des whiskies uniques qu\u2019on ne peut trouver qu\u2019\u00e0 la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9. Nous avons des whiskies de presque tous les 12 profils de saveurs de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 dans cette \u00e9dition de Outturn, avec une gamme d\u2019\u00e2ges allant de 8 \u00e0 30 ans. Nous avons aussi un whisky de grain single cask et cinq embouteillages de la s\u00e9lection sp\u00e9ciale faite par la l\u00e9gende du whisky <strong>Charlie Mclean<\/strong>.
