May we take you on a journey through Scotland this month? With the latest Creators Collection “The Spirit of Five – an exploration of Scotland’s whisky regions”, discover bottlings from every region of Scotland.
This year, for our festival bottlings, we have returned to our classic Single Casks. So that members worldwide can get a chance, no fewer than 41 casks have been bottled – 14 bottlings have found their way to Switzerland. They are accompanied by the latest release in the Heresy series – Batch 39: The Five Regions.
This Creators Collection offers you a number of possibilities – you can compare bottlings from different regions, or bottlings from one and the same region. Discover their exciting diversity, what unites them and what sets them apart. And all this without having to leave the comfort of your home.
Alongside these great whiskys, I would like to share a book recommendation with you. In Opening the Case: The Affairs of Pattisons’ Whisky, Justine Hazlehurst tells the story of the “Pattison Crash”. Drawing on primary sources, she has untangled these dealings and uncovered a tale full of hubris – of family intrigues, the forgotten whisky history of Leith and questionable financial practices, with an unpaid tailor … and parrots thrown in for good measure. It is a story that holds lessons for today’s whisky trade. The question remains, however, whether human beings are even capable of learning anything from history. The next few years will tell.
Those of you who have registered for the Basel Tattoo will receive your tickets at the beginning of July. I look forward to seeing you on 21 July in Basel.
I wish you a great deal of pleasure on this voyage of discovery.
Warmest regards
Patric Lutz
