The 30th anniversary of SMWS Switzerland travels … to Skye
During our annual Scottish “pilgrimage” of 2025, José and I chose Skye, Raasay and the Ardnamurchan peninsula.
One of the highlights was the sunrise we went to observe on the morning of 15 June 2025 at the Old Man of Storr.
Despite (very) dreary weather, the local forecast gave us hope for a “clear” window of 2 – 3 hours roughly at sunrise time, which was 4:26 a.m. that day.
The decision didn’t take long! Wake-up at 3 a.m., 20 minutes by car and a little over 50 minutes of walking and we were in place. A moment like that couldn’t pass without a dram from the Society, so we brought along some 35.386 A Cup of Kindness.
Undoubtedly the earliest dram we’ve ever drunk (4.43 a.m.!).
An unforgettable moment both for the beauty of the location and for the perfect quality of this special version for the 30th anniversary of the Swiss branch (THANK YOU Patric).

Fun note: We were “almost” alone in the world, but one couple had the same idea as us (only for the sunrise, obviously); a couple from … Lausanne!
