Whisky love is blind

It is with great pleasure that I present to you the first Outturn in this still young new year. It is packed with news and exciting bottlings – of course always depending on what you fancy.

If you’re practising “Dry January”, then after the first party our article “The morning after the dram before…” might come in handy. We all practice “responsible drinking”, of course, but despite all good intentions it occasionally still leads to a hangover. Let’s take a detailed look at what happens medically in our bodies. Or you could tackle it with the Bible verses 23: 29 – 35.

The new Creators Collection focuses on “Fortified Wines” – from Australia. An exciting experiment with special sweet wine casks. No less exciting is Batch 35 from the Heresy Small Batch Series – the first bottling from our own Sherry Cask Whisky Solera.

But there’s also plenty happening beyond whisky. From 26 to 28 March we’ll be present again at Whiskyschiff Luzern and I’m delighted that Olaf is visiting us again. On Friday he’s even holding a one-hour masterclass – for whisky enthusiasts who don’t know us yet. But of course it’s always lovely for members to see Olaf “in action”.

Later in the year we’ll be at Whiskymäss in Winterthur on Saturday, 25 April – if interested, reserve this date. I look forward to seeing you there.

And following requests from many members, I’m organising another visit to the Tattoo in Basel on 21 July – it will be similar to our visit for the 30th anniversary two years ago. So if you fancy an evening with whisky, music and exchange with other members from across Switzerland, this is the right occasion.

Besides all this, you’ll also find our regular tasting dates in the current Outturn. There are still places available on almost all dates, more on some, fewer on others.

Cheers!
Patric Lutz
